The World That Never Was. Perhaps one of the most complicated and carefully detailed worlds in Kingdom Hearts II. Sora first arrived in The World That Never Was after witnessing the death of Axel in The Betwix And Between. Although Sora was sad and confused after this experience, he continued on to find his lost love, and best friend.
Note that this page has major spoilers.

Characters
Anyone in the game who related to The World That Never Was in any way.

xemnas3.jpg

Xemnas
The leader of Organization XIII. He tricked Sora into extracting more hearts with the keyblade, fortifying Kingdom Hearts. When Sora arrived in The World That Never Was, Xemnas' project was almost complete. His plan was beginning to unfold, about to submerge world's into darkness.
Quote: "So your hearts have led you to oblideration. It doesn't pay to be too loyal to one's heart... I shall remember that."

saix2.jpg

Saix
A loyal accomplice of Xemnas, Saix would do anything to stop Sora, Donald, and Goofy from interfering with Organization XIII's plan. He encouraged Sora in Hollow Bastion to keep destroying Heartless, leaving Sora uncertain of what he should do.
Quote: "How I've waited so long to hear that."

xxigbar.jpg

Xigbar
The smartass of Organization XIII, Xigbar likes to manipulate Sora with his sly comebacks and casual personality. He doesn't come off as a "cook" like Demyx, although you can see a slight similarity between them. Xigbar finally fights Sora in The Hall Of Empty Melodies.
Quote: "Clever little sneak."

luxord.jpg

Luxord
Although fighting may seem to be just a game to Luxord, he takes it quite seriously, as you will find out once you face him in The World That Never Was. Battling him takes strategy, and can be confusing to some.
Luxord was seen in Port Royal. He summoned the great Grim Reaper heartless, a rather tricky apponent. As he had hoped, Sora defeated it. Perhaps the satisfaction of using your own enemy is what pleased him, or was it the fact that he was one step closer to becoming whole?

zexion2.jpg

Zexion
Even though Zexion had not showed up in The World That Never Was, let alone Kingdom Hearts II, his mysterious end still left people wondering through the game... Would he show up? Was he going to be more important that Xemnas in KH II? Or was his end in Chain Of Memories a reality?
At least 2 out of 3 of those question were answered. We found it appropriate to put Zexion here, for he is still a mystery, and is expected to play somewhat of a role in Kingdom Hearts 3, whether he's deceased or not.

axel.jpg

Axel
A rather pleasing figure to Kingdom Hearts fans, Axel's betrayal of the Organization was what made him so interesting. All he ever wanted was to see Roxas again, but sadly met his end in the Betwix and Between... the glamorous place that lead from Twilight Town to The World That Never Was.
Axel's death brought Kingdom Hearts fans in shock. Was he saddened by the fact that he had no heart to call his own? Was he satisfied at the time of his death for seeing Sora, Roxas' other half? Axel's emotions were never quite easy to fully understand.

Battles Coverage

1. Fighting Xigbar
Xibbar's HP is 1300, while yours is only 120 to the highest. This fight will be challenging, especially if you're not over level 70. Winning will get you MAGNET ELEMENT and SECRET ANSEM REPORT 3. Follow Our Tips, and you're sure for a victory.

*-Equip Potions. If you're running low on potions, try your best to sneak in an ether or two. Also, equip them on shortcuts. You'll need the easy accessible way to get your items, before Xigbar whips out his most dangerous attacks.
*-Save MP for when Xigbar traps you in a little square area, and keeps shooting. When he pauses to take a quick breather, heal immediately. If you don't have any MP, well, let's hope you have a potion equipped on your shortcuts.
*-Reflect attacks with the triangle reacton command when it comes to his nobodies. But to reflect Xigbar's attack, let's hope you have guard(square button move) equipped. Reflecta may also work, but is not reccomended.
*-After reflecting an attack, the bullets will return and hurt Xigbar. This is your chance to attack him... while he's recovering. Also dive for when he just finishes a powerful move.
*- This is very important. When Xigbar traps you in that small squared area, run rougly along the sides of the area. Do not get too deep in the corners, or you'll get stuck, and the attack could be fatal. Also, don't jump, for you'll be knocked in the air continuously. Try breaking into valor form if you're desperate, but we doubt you'll have the time. Have auto valor equipped, but be careful not to use it on accident.

2. Fighting Luxord
Luxord's HP for the fight is unknown, but he's a tricky one to beat. Winning will get you +5 HP BOOST, and SECRET ANSEM REPORT 9.
Follow these hints, and you'll be promised a victory.
*- Use the "Flip Card" reaction command as much as possible.  It'll move the cards out of your way, so you can close on Luxord easily. Use Quick Run(Requires Drive Boost) to get there quicker.
*- Listen to the information tab that shows up. As annoying as it can be, it'll still help if you read it and follow the directions.
*- Have at least 2 potions equipped just in case you need them. You cannot heal if you're turned into a dice or card, so we reccomend you don't "play the game" unless you have a full HP bar or close to it...
*-Watch the bar to see how you're doing, and don't let the pressure break you down. Also, avoid being a card... A dice isn't so bad.

3. Fighting Saix
All righty. If you've gotten this far, we must admit, you have skills. :-)
Saix can be a royal pain to fight, and the items you get after winning aren't exactly wonderful gifts. Sora's prize is only ANSEM REPORT 12. How exciting.
Okay, we have more tips. Follow them, and you'll win... If you don't, try again, and I'm sorry.

*- Use Beserk to kick Saix's butt as much as possible. This might not take out that much HP(depending on Sora's strength), but it'll stall him from hurting you more, and causes some damage.
*-When Saix is going beserk with his weapon, just run. What else can I say? Keep out of the guy's way, and hover in air as much as you can. Auto Valor will help in those desperate situations.
*- Have potions equipped. As many as you can, infact. You'll need them, especially if you can't avoid his major combos.
*- Final Form is reccomended if Saix has just finished his beserk stage. You'll have plenty of time to wipe some HP out of him using it, and it helps rebuild MP for more healing.

4. Fighting Xemnas
We have a seperate page for this.
>>Go to Final Battle
(It only covers the battles near the end, not the one at Memory's Skyscraper.)

Objectives List
There are many objectives in The World That Never Was.
Take a look at a brief list of the major objectives/scenes.

  • Fight Roxas. There will be a cutscene where Sora will see Roxas, and they'll battle it out. It ends with Roxas saying, "You're a good other."
  • Defeat Xigbar. The tips are to the left of the screen, as well as a link to the youtube.com video.
  • Meet up with Kairi in The Hall Of Empty Melodies. Sora and her will hug, and you'll finally have a touching reunion with Riku. After this cutscene, you'll get THE OBLIVION, and the CASTLE THAT NEVER WAS MAP... Not that you'll need it... Just keep going straight.
  • Go inside Havoc's Divide and fight Luxord. A video and tips are to the left, if you have not already nothiced. ;-)
  • Riku will join your party, so now you can fight with him! Enjoy the fun... while it lasts.
  • Fight Xemas. Tips and a video are to the left.
  • You'll be left at the Altar Of Naught with Riku, Kairi, Donald, Mickey, and Goofy. Save the game, and enter Kingdom Hearts to end the game.

Before you go, as long as you're in Standard or Proud mode, try to finish these objectives so you can see the Secret Ending... Or you could cheat and watch it on youtube/kh-vids.net.

  • Finish Pooh's world. Some may find it painful... Some may not.
  • Finish Atlantica. It's easy to avoid, but you'll have to do it some time.
  • Fight Hayner, Setzer, and Seifer. To do this, you must beat Hayner 20 times. Then, you'll gain the ability to beat Setzer. Defeat him 25 times, and you'll have a chance to attack Seifer. :-D
  • Get all the maps, treasures, etc. May not be the easiest or most entertaining thing to do in Kingdom Hearts II, but won't that secret ending be awarding?
  • Jump through a ring of fire, holding a piniata in the shape of a cookie. Actually, I'm kidding. As funny as that would look, it's not possible in the game. Don't try that at home, by the way.
